CP200 transmit issues ???

Post by 1crazymax »

Throwing my bucket into the well of knowledge again. I recently purchased a couple of CP200's UHF version. I cleaned them up, replaced a couple of missing cosmetic parts, and programmed them to talk to each other. Radio A would transmit to Radio B and radio B would receive. Radio B would not transmit to radio A. Initially I was faced with the issue of either radio A was not receiving or radio B was not transmiting. So I got a lapel speaker mic and connected to radio B and then both A & B would transmit and recieve to each other. I turned radio B off, disconnected the speaker mic and it quit transmitting again. Am I correct in assuming that radio B has either an internal mic or PTT switch issue. An input would be greatly appreciated.

The 2 pin radius audio/mic connector are notorious for stressing the radio's connector/board and causing no tx or rx audio or both when it breaks away finally or over time. Causes inability to read/write the radio too.

Have also seen the internal mic on the radio & the speaker go bad sometimes together, sometimes just one. Seems as if it was more of a issue early on in the 200's.

Sounds like it may be both in that radio?

Thanks for the reply, I'll check it out. I had no issues with reading the radio but I didn't try to write to it. The speaker works since it did receive audio. Thanks again.
