I have a mid power XTL 5000 Dash Mount radio I want to record audio off of. Reading the service manual, I can do it with Pin 21 + GND, but will HKN6187B do what I'm looking to do? I would like audio out at a set level, regardless of what the volume is set on the XTL. Will HKN6187B work even though I have a dash mount version?
Thanks,
Tucker.

XTL Recording
Schrodinger's Radio: It is simultaneously too loud and too quiet, but you will never know which until someone transmits.
Re: XTL Recording
Pin 21 on the rear accessory connector on the mid power radio is the place to get the RX audio. It is filtered and follows the squelch of the channel settings. It does not vary with the control head volume control setting. The same goes for pin 6 on the DB25 connector on the high power radio.tuckerm wrote:I have a mid power XTL 5000 Dash Mount radio I want to record audio off of. Re: XTL Recording
As a follow up on this:
He did not need the HKN6187 cable. Just a pin, wire, and a blocking cap added in the Accy connector on pin 21.
Also he needed a ground lead from pin 1 also to the recorder's input.
