Smart Phone and Analog repeater access app

Post by arlojanis »

How does a smart phone app access and provide two-way communications on an analog repeater? What is a good app? Are there delays and other problems?

There has to be a gateway device connected between the two way radio system and the internet. The app accesses the gateway through it's carrier service internet to participate with the radio system. I don't know of any specific products other than MotoTrbo_Anywhere, but there is bound to be at least one company that has thought about it.

And yes, there are delays, but not bad. No more than you would expect.

TrboVui works however as Bill stated you need to purchase the gateway and an XPR4550 to dedicate to the system. It will operate on analog as well as digital. There is a delay however it is not unusable and acceptable when there is no other solution.
