Fail 01/ and 01/92

Post by Hey Nurse »

Hey all, I have an odd problem here.

I was programming an XTS3K for a friend last night. He'd left said radio in the car for a bit, and it was cold. It had a dead(ish) battery, and went through self test VERY slowly, though a fresh battery seemed to help with that. This evening (and with another cold, dead radio/battery) he showed up again. While writing information into the radio, the battery died.

Upon connecting a charged (and warm) battery to the radio, it began displaying Fail 01/. It also flashed Fail 01/92 a few times. Fail 01/ is also displayed on the screen if I turn off the radio, and did not clear until I removed the battery. After reattaching the battery, Fail 01/92 stays on the screen, but now clears if I turn off the radio.

After ensuring i had a good battery in the RIB and all the connections were tight, I was able to get CPS (R05.03.00) to read the radio. it give an error that says "Block Checksum failed for internal radio block block. Continue unpack anyway".

I'm using an older PC running win 7 that has a serial port to program with a real RLN4008 and associated cabling.

I'd be greatful if anyone could point me in the right direction(s).

Sounds like this may be to blame. We are starting to see similar failure in the MTS2000/MCS2000 radios as well.

Well, &^%@#. I'll try a new Srec and if that does nothing, a new controller.

Yes force in a new srecord or plug and then I would try a firmware update.

If anyone has an srec or codeplug, i'd love them forever!

The radio in question is an XTS3K, M2 in 800mhz flavor. The model # is H09UCF9PW7BN and the flash is 000008-002000-8. The DSP and Firmware is both shown as UNKNOWN in CPS.

Save the existing srecord and just force any xts3000 srecord into to see what happens.
