JT1000 FPP Mode

i recently picked up a R split jt1000 at a hamfest with antenna, sp/mic and charger for $40.

i press the arrow key then "3" to enter chan mode then enter the 581000 default password and then nothing happens. am i missing something. if it it gets that far does it mean it's in government mode? or does nothing happening mean i need a key or god forbid the person who had it before me changed the default password?

in addition to a new 2150mah nimh battery i ordered a jt1000 program cable and have ht1000/jt1000 RSS along with a rib and slow pc so worst case i can rss program it.

but i am just wondering if i missed a step for the fpp mode.

there is a blinking square on the upper right hand corner of lcd if that means anything special.

update: i found a fpp tutorial so i go through all the steps above then after entering password step i push the blue button on side of radio and it just goes back to password screen.

i'm guessing the default password was changed?

can i fix the password issue via rss?

Nice deal. Yes, password is a RSS changeable item. If the CHAN icon came up you should be past the point of needing the external key.

The password will be clearly visible in the RSS so you'll be able to see exactly what it is once your cable arrives.

yes that is what i thought. it's been a long while since i have messed with (/\/\) stuff thanks for the info

sure enough. got my cable a few hours ago and got the jt1000 onto the programming computer. works beautifuly now

does FPP with the default pass and everything now.
