Desktrac Receiver cable

Post by PETNRDX »

I have a few Desktrac base stations, and a couple repeaters.
I want to convert the bases to repeaters by adding the second radio.
Have done this before several times.
Problem this time is that I don't have the cable that goes from the Rx radio 16 pin connector to the Desktrac front panel control board.
If I had one left, I could duplicate it, but somehow I used the last one or lost it.
Anybody have the manual or schematics or anything?
Just needs RX audio, PL det/RX unsquelch, and gnd.

I did several of these making a cable that goes to the receiver radio's 'control head' connector. Then the RX radio does not have to have the 16 pin accy connector.

16 pin accessory connector pin-outs for /\/\ legacy radios are on batlabs.com, have been for many years.

Lots of info on the Desktracs over on repeater-builder.com, been there for a long time, too. Google search suggests there are many threads here on this topic as well.

If all else fails, contact ebay seller mre1032 as he may already offer what you seek. His rep and quality is well documented here in many threads.

I have looked at all the stuff on RB many times for many years. There is actually very little about the Desktrac's there. Lots of Maxtrac, Radius and GM300, but little on the Desktrac.
The NEED here is the pinout on the Desktrac front panel.
I know the radio pinouts VERY well. I have made the 16 pin cables for YEARS to connect to all sorts of things.
But, from that there is NO way to tell where those leads would go on that front panel without a schematic of the front panel connectors or a cable to copy.
Have bought a lot of cables from MRE1032, but I really doubt he makes anything with the Desktrac front panel connector.
It is a truly odd connector.
I can make the radio connections on either the 16 pin or the radio front panel connectors.
You really need both if you want to program the Rx radio in the Desktrac chassis.
But, like I say, I need to know what goes where on the Desktrac front "control panel'.
