Duplexer tuning only using a service monitor and a spec an

i have a Marconi 2955 service monitor coming and i have a ATTEN AT-5005 500mhz spectrum analyzer and i do have a dummy load.

is there a procedure to use these to tune 4 cavity pass-reject a duplexer?

the marconi lacks a tracking generator

As a suggestion, you should also have 3 attenuation pads to put in series with each of the cable ports. This way when you connect and disconnect you interface cables, you won't effect the duplexer tuning. I would suggest that you use some good double shielded cables for your test interface cables.

Use your service monitor as the signal source and the spectrum analyzer as the receiver. Make sure your cables have connectors that are tight on the cables your using for alignment. I have seen cables over the years that people were using for testing that you could spin the connectors on the end of the cables. Junk them if that's what you have. They will only cause you grief in trying to tune anything up. They will give erratic readings and put you into a hyper frustration mood that won't stop.

Always use at least 3 dB pads with the correct matching connectors on each port of the duplexer when tuning. NO adapters.....
