HT1550 XLS plectron tone
So question. Thinking of buying a 1550 XLS for amateur use and some PS listening. Is it possible to load a non QCII tone of 950 /1232 and if the radio will accept it, what's the chance of it working as a FTO pager function? The tones seems to be Plectron (Boulder County Colorado)

- What radios do you own?: CDM's, CP's, CM's, and more

It should work fine. The synthesizer might adjust the tones a tiny bit when you enter them, but it will be less than 0.5% and the decoder will still handle them with no problem.Philco7 wrote:So question. We do this with CDM's, HT1250's, the Commercial Series CP's and CM's regularly. I mix Plectron and QC-II tones in these radios with no issues.

Pro Series will synthesize just about anything you tell it to. Non-standard QC, PL, DPL etc

Thanks for the info, guess I'll start looking around for a decent price on one.

What band you need? I have a UHF unit (403-470MHz)

Make sure you get the right model. Some of them can only do 16 conventional channels max. The 1250's can do 64 channels so they may be a good alternative for you.Philco7 wrote:Thanks for the info, guess I'll start looking around for a decent price on one.
Do you have access to programming capability? Keep in mind that the software is $265 and only available from Motorola.
Re: HT1550 XLS plectron tone
Ok thanks, I wasn't aware of that. 16 might work for me but a little more would be better. No I don't have software, have to send it off to someone for programming.SteveC0625 wrote:Make sure you get the right model. Some of them can only do 16 conventional channels max. Every HT1550XLS ever built supports 160 conventional channels.SteveC0625 wrote:Make sure you get the right model. Some of them can only do 16 conventional channels max. After I started thinking about that, I thought that didn't sound right!escomm wrote:Every HT1550XLS ever built supports 160 conventional channels.SteveC0625 wrote:Make sure you get the right model.
