CDM1250 Accessory Pin Question

Post by andrewsim »

I am hooking up a wireless remote mic to my CDM1250 and everything is working fine but I would like to know if I could program an accessory pin input to toggle talkaround on and off?

Channel 1 in each zone is a repeated channel, and channel 2 is the T/A of channel 1. Is it possible to use one pin to toggle between the two channels if talkaround toggle is not available.

Thanks in advance!

You could do it with a CDM1550 that supports channel steering but I don't think the CDM1250 will channel steer

CDM1250 does indeed do channel steering; Pins 6,8, 12 or 14. can be programmed for channel steering.

Andrewsim - care to share your wireless remote mic build?

It is a Wireless Pacific X10DR. It has mixed reviews all over the internet, but my limited experience so far has been good. As for channel steering, I saw that I can program pin 12 to go to channel 1, 2, 3, or 4, once I go to that channel, will a second press/pulse/signal revert to the previous channel? If I'm misunderstanding "channel steering" can you please explain it to me?

Thanks for the quick response!

Well since I made my last post (delayed since I'm new) I did some research since I actually knew what to search for (Channel Steering) and it sounds like I can accomplish what I'm looking for by using a latching relay (since my microphone can only provide a momentary ground) connected to pin 12 programmed to revert to channel 1 on my radio.

My question now lies in use of the binary input for channel steering, to select channel 1 on the radio, would I provide a signal to the "Channel 1" or the "Channel 4" steering input? I will use pin 12, I just need to know what function I need to assign it in CPS.

Thanks again.

There's some explanation here in the forums, but I'll try to pull together a better description of it all later.

Basically, the Channel Select 1, 2, 4, & 8 labels are the binary equivalent of the decimal channel number.

C.S. 1 active low sends it to Channel 1 in the list; C.S. 2 sends it to Channel 2 in the list, C.S. 1 & 2 togeter sends it to Channel 3, etc.
I think it works out that if none of the Channel Select lines are active, then the front panel has control of the channel;

I've been involved in setting up a TR10-16F with a TTP216, and CDM; it chewed my face off for a couple days. I think I've got a handle on it.

Makes me want to make myself a 'breakout box' for CDM's; all pins on the Access. connector, brought out so that interface functions can be tested, such as this.

Thanks kb4mdz, I got it figured out. Finally got my hands on my cable last night and whacked the radio with Channel 1 on Pin 12 and it works perfectly. I really appreciate your help and understanding (we can't all be /\/\ geniuses)
