TFE6612A Filter/duplexer specifications?

Post by Charlesb »

I may have jumped the gun by buying a duplexer without knowing specifics about it other than it came out of MSF 5000 repeater with model number C74CXB7106BT.

I have looked on the Internet for 2 days and I can not find any technical reference to the tfe6612a filter/duplexer.

Can anyone help find information on this duplexer? I want to use it with my dstar system.

Most MSF5000's came with an "internal duplexer/filter".
NOT a normal duplexer.
It is a "pre-filter and post-filter" combination. That piece filters the exciter output before it goes into the PA (pre-filter) then the larger section filters the PA output (post filter) then goes thru a special critical length T-cable to the RF port on the side of the radio. The other side of the T goes to the receiver.
Not able to use those with a different radio as the receiver "front end" filter is needed to be the other "half" of the duplexer.
Some MSF's came with a normal external duplexer, and if that is what you bought, you will be fine.
But if it is the "pre/post-filter" you won't be able to use that alone.
I don't recognize that number, but I can't find the MSF pre/post filter number right now either.
The pre/post filter is assembled on a 3 1/2 inch by 19 inch rack panel, the pre part is L shaped, about 2 inches, the post filter is about 11 1/2 long, 4 high and 3 1/2 wide.

Thanks for your reply, I got my money back on the wrong part and purchased a T1507A which should do the trick for me.

Good. Glad to hear that.
The 1507 should work great.
