XTS5000 C02 vs C03 Display Module

Post by Smac61 »

According to the manual, the UHF XTS5000 with a NNTN4717 vocon requires the C03 display module.
Not having one, I used a C02 from an 800 XTS with the NNTN4717 vocon and it appears to be working 100%

Normally I just shrug my shoulders and say "that's nice" but it's bugging me :)

Anyone know what the difference is or why the C03 is spec'd for the UHF XTS?

Full part number is 7285726C0x

Thanks.

Never had issues with the other part number displays or even vocon boards. They all seem to work as you described.

Just ordered some more displays last week and Motorola have changed the part number AGAIN!

It has to do with the shielding on the display itself. I fiddled with a 800Mhz display on a vhf radio, with RF getting into it, it was very quirky. IIRC the C04 is a universal display as of now for all bands.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
