What is " Football knockdown"

Post by RFguy »

I just saw a service bulletin that indicates that "Football Knockdown is not functional in MOTOTRBO™ SLR5000 Series Repeaters".

OK, whats football knockdown? I looked in the system planner, and found nothing.

This is used by the NFL to ensure compliance with their team communications and "coach-to-player" rules. One such rule requires that all communications between the coach and player are disabled when there are 15 seconds or less on the play clock.

Pin 17 on the rear connector is used for this. When the pin is active, ALL TX and RX operations are suspended, including CWID. Stadium clocks, TV timers, and other timing sources feed the pin.

I saw that option in the dropdown and wondered what that could possibly be for. Thanks for that info.
