DIU UCM Installation

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi guys!

1. Who can explain me, is the UCM board compatible with DIU?
2. If YES, is it the same UCM as used in XTS5000/XTL5000?
3. If UCM is compatible, how it installs? I checked DIU manuals and they all shows grey plastic cartridge with no UCM inside. So, cartridge installation is pretty clear, but no UCM.
4. Is the DIU compatible with AES? Manuals has nothing on this.

Thanks!

No, the UCM used in mobile and portable radios is completely different that the DIU encryption cards. The DIU encryption card is unique to the DIU, and not found in any other equipment.

Yes, the DIU can do AES if equipped with the appropriate encryption card.

Thanks.

Okay, you're talking about Encryption cartridges, grey flat plastic boxed inserted from the front panel. I know them.

I checked all my DIU manuals and this is all what I found:

T5371 DVP–XL Encryption Module
T5372 DES–XL Encryption Module
T5373 DVI–XL Encryption Module
T5374 DVP–XL / DES–XL Encryption Module
T5375 DVI–XL / DVP–XL Encryption Module
T5771 DES–OFB Encryption Module
T5772 DES–OFB / DVP–XL Encryption Module
T5773 DES–OFB / DVI–XL Encryption Module

So, no AES and no ADP part cartridges.

But 68P80801G85-O manual mentions T6721 T6721A cartridge. With no algo designator. Probably P/N for 'emty' hardware?

2 more questions:

1. If I get T6721A, how to check it for supported algos?
2. What's needed to add new alogos to T6721A? Just proper binaries for PC or KVL3000+PCMCIA upgrade card?
