Hi:
As you may or may not know, all Laptops
are not really the same. I do have a few
if you are interested, and they have a very
Stable operating platform.
I have found the Toshiba T3200SX / SXC are super for counter top operations, and the
T4700(c), (ct), ( cs ) are great series
for going in the field. The 4700 is a 486
and will work with every know Motorola product.
STAY away from the T1000 ( period ) for wahtever reason, they just do not work on
a wide varity of Motorola Radios
I would also STAY away from " As-Is " computers wether they be from Ebay or
other sources. A Poor unstable Computer
can definately kill your radio.
Email me direct if you are interesed in obtaing one.

Beware, a lot of older 386 units only came standard with 1MEG of RAM, which isn't enough to run the more complex RSS. Depending on your platform, even 4MEG may not be enough. We have identical Compaq Contura 25MHz laptops, each with 4MEG of RAM. One is a 386, one is a 486. The 386 has problems running MTSX & MCS software, as well as Comtegra, lots of runtime memory errors. The 486 performs flawlessly though. I've heard others on the board advocate 12MEG of RAM, it couldn't hurt, especially with a 386.

Hi:
As a update....The T4700 Series Toshiba
Computers are really pretty nice. Not only
can you get 16, 32 Mb of Ram, but they have
many acc'y such as a docking station, removable HD, Color Display, will Run Windows
for Later Programs, DOS for Older ones. ( I use System Comander to switch between the two) and even CD ROM capability ( W/docking station)
Very flexible system, but does cost some
initial bucks to get not only a good one, but
a little time and effort setting it up the
way one desires.
Plus it can be taken out in the field for
Mobile Programmimg eliminating the need for
50' Program cable extensions.....
