MAXTRAC Cross Band VHF -UHF Repeater

Post by elmanoduarte »

Hi all,

I m traing to build a UHF to VHF Cross band repeater, using a GM300 and a Maxtrac D44MJA77A3CK.
the VHF is the GM300 and the UHF radio is the MAXTRAC.
This Maxtrac looks very identical to the GM300.
Its has the 16 PIN out on the back, just like the GM300.

but when I use the cable to link both radios, its a cable I have used very well in 2 GM300, but in this 2 diferent models, does ot work good!
I belive I will need to swittch the 16 PIN Out from the apdaptar in the Maxtrac.

anyone knows the connectiosn form this maxtrac radios ?

Pinouts for many accessory connectors are available on the Batlabs model specific page.
You may need to program some of the accessory pins to do what you want.

of course you may have to program the connector to provide the needed functions and pin assignments.

Hello:
On the Maxtrac make sure in the rss programming of the radio that in accessory configuration screen that pin 8 is set as follows
Description = PL/DPL & CSQ Detect
Data Direction = Output
Debounce = No
Active Level = Low
This sets the Maxtracs receiver for repeater use.
On some maxtracs pin 8 is already active low and pin 8 is NOT programmable per rss program.
To confirm active low on those maxtracs on pin 8 measure the dc voltage on pin 8 with volt meter set to dc and with negative probe on chassis ground and positive probe lead on pin 8 and with no receive signal just standing by you see aprox +5 volts dc = And with a signal with proper pl being received pin 8 drops to less than .01 volts dc then yes that pin 8 is already hard set from factory as needed in your situation.
If NOT you'll need to install a pull up resistor +12 volts
To test wrap a 10k resistor around the positive lead of the volt meters lead and connect the other end of the resistor to 12 volts dc .
Now remeasure as above and see if the maxtracs pin 8 reads +12volts dc standing by not receiving in squelched quiet and when you receive a proper freq with pl that pin 8 now drops to less than .01 volts dc when receiving proper freq and pl opening up audio being received.
Pin 8 location on a maxtrac with the 16 pin option port is with the radio upside down and 16 pin accessory jack facing you pin 8 is bottom row 4th pin from the right.
Id check pin setting to confirm the Maxtracs in proper specs to be used as a repeater then see if working.
