I have a APX portable with ASK required checked. I am trying to delete some conventional channels and replace them with new conventional channels.
I get a write error message. Is ASK the problem? Can I change scan lists or buttons without the ASK?

Re: APX and ASK
A lot depends on the configuration of the ASK when the radio was last programmed. The Admin. can really lock down the radio if they wanted to.

Hi, You can change most of the parameters, but there is no way to write them to the radio. If you bought this radio from someone, there are few possible situations:arlojanis wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 1:53 pm I have a APX portable with ASK required checked. 1. Someone sold a stolen radio to you.
2. Someone bought this radio at a surplus auction not knowing anything about the radio. This is highly unlikely.
3. It is the radio belonging to your organization, and you want to change some parameters for which you do not have authorization.
In short, this radio is ASK protected. Which means in order to write codeplug to this radio, you will need ASK key used to lock this radio.
