I have several MTS2000 radios and recently purchased a programming cable for them, they are all the same model and have the same fetures. I can't get the programming cable to work. I have the Motorola RSS but the codeplug is not found. The cable has a 25 pin connector and hooks into the printer port (LPT1), is there a connector I can purchase to hook it up the the serial port. Any help? You can email me at [email protected]

What radios do you own?: MTS/MCS2000

I take it you do have the rib between the cable and the computer, and try doing a com port test under setup and it will let you know your on right com port. doesnt work on printer port, thats an LPT port.

From the sounds of it, you have the proper programming cable, but if you're plugging it straight into your computer, you're missing a very important piece. You require something called a Radio Interface Box (RIB, for short)and cable. This unit allows your radio & computer to understand each other, the programming will not work without it! I suggest you read the programming primer here for more info.
