Key fail on MTS2000

Post by amsmith592 »

Just obtained a MTS2000 radio from out of state. There was some previous programming in it. The radio powers up fine but it flashes out of range(obviously) and sometimes key fail. Does anyone know what key fail means. The only thing I could think of is that 2 buttons might have the same assignment thus getting the fail screen. Thanks for all help in this matter=Andy

What radios do you own?: Too many!

Key fail means that the encryption key has been 'lost', ie: battery was removed, key destruct was activated...

You can disable encryption via RSS, or just leave it as is and see the 'Key Fail' message all the time.

The 'Out Of Range' message won't go away until you program a system that is in range. Unless you change the RSS to not display 'Out Of Range' on the display...

Hope this helps
