Hi Eric --

Simply do a search of the topic in this forum and you will find a wealth of information and pictures. The Tahoe has been an especially popular topic vehicle for the last six to eight months.

I am 99% done with my 1997 which is the same thing (essentially). What are you looking to add/do?

Well for starters, I need to know where I can purchase a console, and what console has seemed to work better for that model. Eventually I will be putting in motorola spectras and A-9 control heads. So for now just info on consoles for the 1997 tahoe!

Thanks for your help

I bought a Gamber Johnson console for my 1994 S-10 Blazer, and recently put that console in my 1997 Burb. All I had to do was change the mounting feet, which attach to the seat studs. Here is a quick pic....PM me your email address, and I will send you some others, as I deleted the other ones I had, I can take more. There is some space between the radios, but that because I have not adjusted them to fit nice and snug yep. Ususally there are no gaps, but I have been playing with my TNC in the console. If you go to http://www.gamberjohnson.com or if you call them, they can give you the number for a distrubtor in your area. Be warned though, prices for the same part can jump around quite a bit. Call around for the best price. You can also download a PDF file from them that has everything they make. They are very good about giving you an entire parts list if you tell them what you have and what you want to do. The very bottom one is what it looked liked in the blazer. I placed the mic's in the front, but they have mounts for over and/or next to the radio. I just wanted mine out of the way.

What are you trying to put in the console? I have a 97 console and have my icom 706 hung from the factor overhead console. Looks nice. PM or email me for photos

Post it here if you can, I would like to see how you did that. I have an ICOM 2800 that I would like to mount elsewhere

Well If I get this photo thing figured out, here is a couple of photo's of my 706 head mount in my 97 tahoe.

Here is a close up of the 706 mounted on the overhead console.

Here is a picture of my 16ft whip on my old 2d 92 tahoe/blazer. I have the same antenna on the 97 tahoe, but normally run it in a more managable 12ft configuration.

If you get the Gamber Johnson console and need faceplates for a Spectra A9 or Spectra A4/5/7 I have a whole box of them that I would like to unload. I'll need a couple for a project for another member but I want to get rid of all of them.

BAT DUDE - hey dude, do you ban any children from riding in that? Do you ban all passengers from food and drink? I can see myself spilling everything on that all the time if I had a setup like that...

Everyone at this forum must get some form of cancer at 40...should design a lead barrier around the driver area.
