What radios do you own?: MTS2000, Spectra & VRS/PA

Post by PCSAR4x4652 »

Can anyone tell me the CORRECT part numbers for the microprocessor and low profile shield to convert a syntor VRS to a Spectra VRS? The ones listed on the SPECTRA page are incorrect. These are legacy parts with current part numbers except that the format is wrong. IE 26-0XXXX either there is no dash (old style) or no "0" new style part numbers according to Motorola dealers last 4 parts catalogs. neither type is listed in the books back to 1993. I need these parts for my VRS which I want to use for Search and Rescue. any help soon is most appreciated.
Thanks,

If they are incorrect legacy part numbers, then why do they work on the AccessPoint web site? BOTH part numbers check out as correct on AccessPoint! The dash is optional (i.e. it does not matter if you use it or not), but, if you remove the zero the AccessPoint search will not find any valid part!

The shield is NOT for Spectra conversion. The shield is for putting a VRS circuit board inside a Siren/PA housing and making a combination Siren/PA/VRS all in one unit. This all in one conversion can be performed on a Syntor X 9000 VRS or a Spectra VRS. The shield was only made available very recently, it used to be an in house only part number so it is not in any old price books.

The microprocessor part number is for converting a Syntor X 9000 VRS into a Spectra VRS. This part should be listed in price books from whenever Motorola released the version 4.00 VRS microprocessor.

Maybe your dealer can use Motorola Parts ID as a resource to help figure out a part number they can find in their price guide. If your Motorola dealers do not have what it takes to figure out the part numbers, call Motorola yourself and you can order the part numbers listed on the web page. If your dealer charges you full markup the price will probably be exactly the same?

0106711T02 Here is the part number you are looking for. If you are trying to get the VRS to work with a Spectra and is currently set up for a Syntor 9000

What I meant to say is - The part numbers on BATLABS don't show up in the 4 editions parts/price catalogs at our dealer (4 states wide)from 1993 to 2001. They do show on the access point search page. But even that does not always work. I checked "search by description" box, entered "VRS", "spectra", and "syntor" and found "no matching items" on either search.
We did call "M" and they are available and are on order.
List on "M" for both parts is $113.xx, my cost through the dealer is $132.xx. Hopefully
getting them from the dealer will be faster than ordering myself.
Thanks for the replies here and via Email.

The AccessPoint descriptions for the part number codes were never good. Just look at all the Systems 9000 control head keys, not one single description tells you what is written on any key. When you search by description you are searching those totally inadequate descriptions so I am not surprised you did not find what you were looking for using that search.

Well anyway, AccessPoint is going away.

The total retail price for the chip and shield is $ 112.35 plus shipping (you specify the type of shipping when you order). If your dealer is using overnight air delivery the price is probably equivalent to what you would have paid if you called Motorola yourself.

I have a brief written description of the conversion process to add a VRS to a Siren/PA on my web site:

If you have any questions please e-mail me at:

If you also want the VRS manuals they are located here:
http://www.open.org/~blenderm/syntorx/m ... sx9kaccman
You do not use the P in the manual part numbers (it appears on the manual itself, but, is never used for ordering or part number lookup). Be sure to check the notes on the VRS manual because the VRS documentation is actually a collection of manuals. I almost forgot to mention that since you are doing the conversion, you would need the Siren/PA manual, not the Option Expansion Housing manual (if you happen to want a complete manual set).
