Saber Accessory Connector Usable with Keyloader Cable?

Post by seleong »

Saber Gurus:

Can the Saber Accessory Connector be used in conjunction with a Keyloader? This is the connector with the Hirose female on top that would mate with the keyloader cable with the male Hirose connecctor (the one used for Expos & Spectras).

Thanks for your help!

Yes, IF, it has a white "D" printed on the accessory adapter or the ring around the dust cap is all black and not red. The ones with the red ring are audio accessories only and for some reason are wired different and will not keyload the radios. Also I don't think the cable for the expo will work without adding a resistor. I'll look tonight to make sure. Hope this helps.

Saber Accessory Connector

Post by seleong »

The connector I have is P/N NTN5664D (Rev. K). I am still unable to keyload my conventional Saber with this connector and the "Expo" TKN8351 cable.

The Motorola instructions (P/N 68P81108C78-B) that came with the connector specifically state that it can be used for keyloading with the appropriate KVL cable and KVL.

I just got a spectra->KVL cable from Monty. It works just fine to keyload my Sabers with the HI-ROSE adapters. I guess there is more than one kind of HI-ROSE adapter or something.

Expo KVL Cable

Post by seleong »

I just received a new TKN8531C from Motorola. I found that the difference between this new cable and older revisions of the cable (including TKN8351x) is the internal green wire connected to the bottom right connector pin. Earlier versions omit this wire - newer versions have this wire and enable keyloading through the Saber Accessory connector. MYSTERY SOLVED!

Steve,

They are not new and old. They are deffirent! TKN8531_ is KVL to Hi-Rose adapter cable, TKN8351_ is KVL to EXPO radios keyload cable.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.
