Need info on Quantar Control board TRN7760D

Does any one know if this model Control board is capable (or upgradable) to do IMBE??? Model # TRN7760D?????

Does it have the $880 SIMM installed? If not, you will have a major issue trying to order it, asuming you can get over the $880 hump. Is the codeplug complete, legit and installed/working? What firmware is installed? Does the plug include a proper and legit FLASHcode? Also, the 7760D is for Trunking. Is that what you want? FLASHcode orders require your salesman to open up a full blown Motorola F.O. (and all of its formal processes!), and a formal STIC-1 must be prepared, which will only be available through Motorola direct sales. IMBE uplift FLASHport loads are very pricey, and they vary in cost from about $2,000 for a late model Quantar to support ASTRO CAI, to around $7,200 for a pre-5.0 Quantar to be uplifted to P25. Unfortunately, there are generally no discounts on FLASHport, and you MUST give your Motorola salesman the Quantar model number, and a legit FLASHcode, in order to be able to 1) be able to order the FLASHport uplift in the first place, and 2) in order to ensure it will actaully successfully load into your SCB when you receive the FLASHport kit. Remember that Motorola custom tailors each FLASHport upgrade kit to an individual/specific radio, which involves a Motorola clerk sitting at a computer and custom tailoring the firmware load for you particular radio (which is all based upon the details on the STIC-1, which comes from your Quantar model nbr, FLASHcode nbr, serial nbr, etc.). Thus, the need for the model nbr and FLASHcode, and a big part of the reason for the high costs of these FLASHport upgrade kits. If it doesn’t load because you gave them a hokie FLASHcode, etc. (e.g., you are not the original Quantar owner) you’re on your own, which could get a bit costly after a few tries. Ever wonder why eBay Quants sell for a fraction of the price of a factory integrated station? Try upligfting one, and you will soon find out!

One other issue concerning uplifting the TRN7760D SCB to support IMBE...

The TRN7760D is the old INTELLIREPEATER SCB, so you will need to re-jumper it, etc. to convert the hardware to a TRN7475 for either Conventional or 6809 Trunked ops.

Also, I forgot to mention that in order for a Quantar to be FLASHport upgradeable with an FTP download through the Ethernet BNC port, the station MUST meet ALL 5 of the following conditions:

1. System Release 3.0, or later
2. Station ship date of 1/1/97, or later
3. For Conventional, it must have either the EPIC II (CLN6961) or the EPIC III (CLN1614) board. Note: Notice that the TRN7760D will NOT meet this requirement, as it was a much earlier board. The EPIC I will also not support FLASHport uplifts.
4. WIB II CLN6955 (WIB TRN7477 will NOT work!)
5. WIB II software version WL-20-09-015 thru WL-20-10-021

So, it looks like you are talking about a firmware uplift involving new PROMs. Same basic process through Motorola, but different part numbers, etc. as you will need specific PROMs. Usually these are as pricey, or more so, than the FLASHport kits, and less convenient (assuming anyone considers FLASHport to be "convenient.").

So, silly question.

I have an OLD trn7760A rev.

I only have back to a d rev banual. I see the jumpers for setting the ID bits for a trn7475. Can anybody enlighten me as to what the jumpers are on an A rev board.

Past that, will the board register as a conventional capable board after that, or would I need a different version of firmware? board reads as an intellirepeater 2.0.3/2.7E firmware d01.00.11

If I can get this running as a backup for one of my hiband ham boxes, it's worth a little effort.
