Orange Emergency Button
Was funny at IWCE, some /\/\ rep asked if any of the dealers knew what it was for?

Out of 120 heads in the room, only one raises their hand. Their answer: "It's a placebo."

GP-38 wrote:Hey guys. I'm purchasing a new VHF portable this week, and I've decided on either the brand-new PR1500, or the HT1250. Initially, I was pretty excited about the 1500, but I started to think...if I'm going to spend over a grand on a brand new radio, I want to get the most out of it. The 1500, being a new release, will likely have a few issues. I haven't seen a DTMF version yet, and at only 64 channels I cannot have all 97 AAR freqs. that I need for my job.
Yo Billy, you dropped the cashola yet? If not, you may want to look at something with trunking capability, or at least spend the extra $$ to get APCO-25 in your PR1500.

The reason: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.p ... DB&sid=118

Even if trunking doesn't spread as far south as you guys, P25 conventional is still a possibility. Allegedly, P25 will eventually go systemwide on the UP, with trunking used in hub areas and conventional for the road channels. Also, you'll want to take into consideration the new 7.5 kHz "splinter" railroad frequencies.

I would almost recommend the MT1500 instead, it does have a display but but I can't see where QCII is listed in its feature set. It would make sense to put it there if the PR1500 will have it, maybe it is also forthcoming.
Tony,

Any information, model number, or literature on the MT1500's w/ a display? All I saw of them were Model I type radios w/ no display.....
Model 1.5 has a display.12 character by 4 line.No front keys.
The models are
H67KKD9PW5 highband
H67QDD9PW5 UHF low
H67SDDP5W5 UHF high
H67UCD9PW5 800mhz

Another of what seems many enhancements recently made in the portable portfolio.
PM me with email and can send you specs and a few photos of display model.

Does any one know where I can find some more information on the MT1500 with display. A google search and even looking around /\/\ site has yielded nothing. Is the display only on trunking models or conventional too?

Commissioner Gordon 8)
I stand corrected, as of now the PR1500 has 32 channels!! I had 3 zones filled, but zones 2 & 3 have 6 channels only.

VERY SORRY for any confusion.

Has the QCII flash upgrade been released yet. I really want to be able to carry just my radio instead of my radio and pager. Thanks.

BUMP---

Any word on QCII option yet?

PR1500

Yes the QCII option is available as a no charge firmware upgrade to Version 9, and it work great.

The P25 upgrade is also available $400.00 at the depot. Sent both of my radios in and they took about a week from Depot at least these upgrades are still being done in Elgin.

The visual scan indicater is still out there. Latest reports are that it a "low priority upgrade" with no firm time period. At least Big M has agreed to do it.

Just to be clear, I was wondering about QCII on the MT1500, not the PR1500.
Thanks for the info.
