Here is some follow up...

The private messaging modes work, but occupy the repeater time slot so as to lock out all other users.

We are looking for a way to make the private call feature automatically use the second time slot and then return to the primary when the private talk session is over.

I have documented several pointed questions so it looks like a call to product support is in order next week to talk to the Trbo expert.

Anyone else notice the wav file when you load the programming software? It plays a little 'Hello Moto' voice and 'tinkle'.

Only if the radio scans, and the private calls originator made the call on slot 2, then enable talkback scan.

I'm also assuming you are using XP Pro?

Got 1 XPR8300 repeater and 4 6550 portables opened and ready to program. I paid $1505 ($5 over Dealer Cost) list is $2500 for the XPR8300 Repeater. Paid $686 for the 6550's ($5 over dealer cost) list is 1135. Gonna get the repeater set up today on a Ham Pair. Also a great new feature is that they come with battery backup capabilities which is awesome. Another cool thing about the radios and repeater, yes the repeater is that they are full range uhf 403-470 Mhz which is not very typical for a repeater. Gonna load the software and program these puppies and start playing. I ordered more of the repeaters and radios but they wont arrive for another week or so. Gonna take out all of the 1225's and replace them with these on the commercial system.

The repeater is very simple to program. Just tell it analog or digital.

As for the portables, they too are easy to set-up. You just have to be careful on the IP stuff if you plan on using them for data. (Text messaging, GPS tracking)

I'm really interested in the repeater when it too becomes IP based and the ethernet connection works. Repeater linking is my goal since you can't set up a conventional voting system with digital yet.

Well, the multisite functionality will be launched Q1-2009, but you can watch http://www.trbonet.com until then.
This software will support that as well, when Motorola has launched it.

Played with networking a few weeks ago with a demo. Plug the repeaters together, instant crossband or network. This looks to be very promising.

I have also some questions about Moto TRBO repeater. Could anyone help me?


- Can 1 repeater control some mobile radios and this repeater at the same time connect with another repeater via radio link to control another group of mobile radio?
The distance between 2 groups of mobile radios is 20km.
- Can 2 repeaters connect with each other: (for example: via IP cable + hub or without hub)?
- Has anyone got the User Manual of the repeater?
