CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
Anyone successfully mated the two? I seem to get this one to TX PL tones, sounds good other than that though.

Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
Ok, seems I did'nt proof read my post... I can get repeater function but without anyTX of PL tones. RX side appears to be working as it wont repeat with-out seeing a PL tone. But it is TX'ing carrier only. TX Audio sounds great.

You're using Flat TX Audio for the input, right? If you use Mic Audio it sends it through the processing chain and strips the PL.

Yes, using flat TX audio , I finally did get it to TX a PL but audio is horrible and it "motor boats" durring voice and while in rptr hang-time.

One thing I should add is that I am attempting to use Zetrons factory made cable which is specificaly made for a pair of GM300's, I have not moddded the cable in anyway.
Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
How did you get it to transmit the PL, if it was by adjusting the TX PL/Dpl adj on the 48 you are on the right track. Now sounds like you have to much PL/Dpl.
You realy need to set this up using a modulaton scope or you will be beating up the audio with PL/dpl.

Cause Motorola said so that's why

Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
Actually, I had missed setting for Flat TX audio on one of the radios. It went from clean TX and great audio (but without TX of PL), to TX of PL but horrible audio and the "motor boating" sound while in repeater hangtime.
Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
I am basing my answers on the Zetron model 37 but I think the 48 has the same features.
Look on the model 48 for a Tx tone level adjustment and turn it down all the way. Then try the repeater and see if the audio is clean but has no PL, then start to turn the TX tone up a little at a time til the PL returns, you may be over driving the radio with the PL tone. Like I said before you realy should be using a modulation scope to set this up but you can get close without it.

Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
The 48 max has a JP27 jumper to increase/decrease as well as a R63 trimmer to fine tune it. I set JP27 from position A to position B (decrease) and that took care of it. Sounds much, much better although there seems to be some back ground hum but that might be due to the way I have things set up in the initial testing, i.e., TX @25watts into a load and receive ant being a rubber ducky on the rceive radio. I ran the diagnostic prog where it sends out out tones, and there seems to be a steady "beating" in the back ground of each one which does not change when changing test tones. (?)
Anyway's its on to DTMF phone fun set-up. Please stay tuned, i'm sure the hand holding has not ended....

Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
We found that we needed 2 4.7Kohm resistors in series with both the TX audio and the PL tone going into the TX radio.

Re: CDR700 Repeater and Zetron 48-Max
Thanks for everyones help on this. Got everything tweaked out on an R2600 and it seems to run pretty sweet, lots of decent features on the 48-Max. Everything was adjustable to spec without any added mods.
Thank you for your input, it was all pretty much right on.
