MRTI 2000 with GTR8000 P25 Conventional

Post by ASTROMODAT »

Given the demise of the DIU3000, is it possible to provide interconnect on a Conventional P25 GTR8000 (Mixed Mode), using a patch like the MRTI 2000, or a Zetron Model 30?

Theoretically, yes. According to Motorola, when it's all said and done, the "GTR 8000 will be able to do everything the Quantar could do, sans DC keying".

I have no idea how you are going to accomplish a digital telephone interconnect without a DIU or DIU-like device. As you know, you've still got to have a way to convert the digital audio and Data-12 packets to analog audio & DTMF.

Maybe something new is on the horizon.

I know the DIGITAC and ASTROTAC 3000 are buh-bye at this point as well, with the replacement for conventional systems being the MLC 8000 comparator. All IP based. I still don't know how you interface a TRC console (Centracom Gold Elite) into the thing. Perhaps the MLC 8000 has the vocoder in it, and it can be used to replace the DIU? That's just a guess.
