Have any of you used or seen this GPS/speaker mic ?

It appears to work as a standalone GPS or as a GPS/speaker mic with appropriate adapters for HT's and Mobiles.

They have adapters for most of the newer and some older radios of most of the big manufacturers in analog and digital radios.

I found several references to it, even the same mic with the EF Johnson and other peoples names branded on it.

I found one online dealer who had it listed for ~ $200 dollars but they were sold out.

Looks like it is a stand-alone GPS unit with integrated speaker mic. I doubt if it would actually push GPS data to the radio and back to a trunking system.

They work fantastic and are intended for radio to radio use, not thru a trunked network. I haven't used one thru a conventional repeater yet due to the circumstances we tested them, but I expect similar results. They transmit a proprietary bust of data (on analog it sounds like mdc) that includes unit ID and GPS coordinates. If you set it up right, an entire team can keep track of each other without using voice. If you connect another unit to a PC with topo software. you can plot a grid search in real time.

The MiiC is made by Kirmuss & Associates and works on analog and p25 radios with approriate cables and radio firmware (for digital) if applicable.

Please elaborate how these mics interact with the radio and how firmware affects operation.

I'm going out on a limb and assuming they mean the radio has to have the CAI feature to use the digital signalling mode. ckirmuss are you a rep for that company, and will you be at IWCE to discuss the product? (deduced from the username)
