Do any of you guys know if a site is aliased in true P25 trunked systems and if so how it's done? I know that SmartZone systems offer a 6 character alias for each site that can be displayed on radios, but of all the 7.x systems I've looked at or decoded on my computer, none of them display an alias.
I know this is particularly useful for techs when they are testing coverage and need to ID and stay affiliated to a specific site, but without a way to display the site name on the fly, I'm not sure how else one would accomplish that.
Thanks!

Site Alias is programmed into the actual radio, it isn't broadcast over the air... I only mention this because you mention decoding a system with your computer, so I assume you're using control channel monitoring software and looking at the decoded data.

Re: ASTRO 7.x Site Alias?
Ah finally, an answer! Thank you! And yes, I wish I had the need/money for a trunked radio...but I sadly don't. I've seen the alias displayed on a trunked radio and never really thought much about the difference in transmitting that information between an SZ-OL system and a true P25 system.
Thanks!
