In plain language, you have not stated on what legal basis you would be transmitting with these radios, so as a result the members of this Board are sort of reluctant to help you, that's all.

So, post some more information about yourself, what kind of license you have, etc. and you may get some good feedback and help.

THIS.

This post just screams trouble IMO. You don't just happen to get several radios worth thousands of dollars a piece and not know anything about them. You claim you have programming software, but I don't even want to know where you got that from, if you don't even know how to use it.

BUT to answer some questions anyway:

- If you want programming software do NOT ask here ( it's actually in the rules ) - contact Motorola for that.

- If you want to trade radios to ones that you can use for your specific band post an add in the wanted / FS forum.

- A good radio that you can program is any radio that you legally have the software to do so with. If you don't want to go though the hassle of going through Motorola to get software, then I'm sure someone here would be happy to help program your radio ( RX only unless you have proof you can be on a specific system ).

Just my .02 cents.

i have no license ... what license would i need to transmitte on a system that i would have need to ? only thing i can think of is with weather spoters

how would i legally own programing software ?? if it cost a lot of money im not going to be doing it legally... unless i can just get someone to do it cheep

i have programing software some came with the radios ,,, and some i guess i did not get it leglally i have programed one radio i have to transmet and i under stand thats really not legal at all but thats not what i want to do not trying to go to jail trying to find out what is right or wrong on here

is it legal to have a radio with just rx ???

i would like to use the radios for hiking outdoor stuff but i know thats not legal or is it ??? if i did that would there be a way to find a unused freq that would not interfear with anyone ???

Honestly, my concern is this: You found several very high-end radios in a storage unit... That doesn't add up.

Perhaps if you can be a little more specific in explaining the circumstances and origins of these radios, and any markings they may have, people may be a little more helpful, but until then, I'm assuming they are hot potatoes and respectfully decline to offer any assistance.

Hmmmmm...deff something strange here. But anyway, you can't just transmit on a repeater system without a license issued from the FCC. I would think with you being in the military you would atleast know a little bit of this....
