Motorola BMS Plus WPLN4079BR Li-Ion ?

I'm finding conflicting information on the WPLN4079BR BMS Plus. Some specs show it as needing the WPPN4079BR upgrade kit to make it Li-Ion capable , other not. (I'm guessing the Plus B version is tri-chemistry and the A revision is bi-chem and that upgrade is basically to make the A into a B) ?

There are 3,700 Google listings for this charger. The Motorola link is here:

The charger requires a modification, covered in the spec sheet, to do Lithium-Ion batteries.

No 9 I get backwards 'L''s on two cups then it goes thru segment tests on all cups but nothing that looks lke a ver # Looking on the bottom I see a possible date code of 0044 and I've had it at least 5 yrs. so I'm assuming is a Y2K vintage.

Must use the correct adapter.
