I'm looking for a source of wire similar to that used in Motorola power cords. It looks like #12 and is highly flexible. It has fine stranded wire. Looking for Red and Black single conductor.

Give these folks a try. I have not bought from them YET, so I have no first hand experience, but I've heard good things about them and they do have the flexible wire in that size as well as the zip pair..

Have you tried WayTek Wire? They are a pretty good source for that sort of stuff. Purchased a few things from them and they've always been pretty good.

When I used to wire boats the ultra flex (resists vibration and flexing failures) was referred to as type 3. If wiring under the hood check the temp. rating and if it' might get splashed with road salted water the tinned version handles corrosion better than bare copper.

I thought of Waytek and found one type that may be close.

Standard #12 wire (like their WG12) is 19 strands of 25 guage wire.

While on their site, I found a wire that's rated as "UL1015". It's also #12, but has 65 strands of 30 guage wire. It also has a thicker insulation. It's rated at 105 degrees C and 600 volt. It's waytek number WR12.

The one nice thing on the Motorola power cable is the felexibility. I think that's a combination of the more strands of smaller guage wire, and the outside jacket.

I will get a sample of UL1015 wire and see what it feels like.

I think you are correct, it's the larger number of smaller stands that make it flexible, at least that has been my experience.
