Ok, I have a few questions.

I have my radio programmed up and it works fine, but I am curious how you get more then 8 control channels/voice channels?

The system we use is similar to the one I will post below where they have multiple systems, simulcasted.

Again this is similar to this one:
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=337 which only had 5 channels on it, with us being on one talk group.
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=336 This one has 25 on it.

Now they also have these 1-10 systems, some have 3 control/voice channels, some have 25+.
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=218

How can you get a system with 25+ frequencies into one system? It is more of a for my info question, as I already have our radios programmed up on our system, but I am not grasping the whole simulcast part.

My radio will only allow me to add up to 8 freq in the control channel portion, smartzone, more, but we are only SmartNet.

I am just wondering how they do it. Because like I said it is similar to our, like they have, say XYPD Police on system 8, but one of XYPDs talkgroups is on system 6/7

Another question I have, is my radio firmware is OLD, R05.08.00, DSP N06.04.12. it is flashed for digital ID, and I just want to make sure that updating the firmware will show the Analog Trunking IDs if I get it updated. I remember reading somewhere that newer firmware will allow it. Also is it normal for conventional MDC id to show ONLY in scanning? Unless its scanning the MDC ids will not show.

Thanks all, and please no accusing me of wanting to get on a system I cant be on, like I said my radio is programmed up and I go to work with it every night.

In a Motorola radio, you only need to program in the control channels. A system can have as many voice channels as is possible, but you don't program those. EDACS and LTR systems however, require you to program in every channel, regardless if it is a voice or a control channel.

A SmartNet system can have 4 control channels, a WAC AMSS (Wide Area Coverage Automatic Multiple Site Select) can have 8, and a SmartZone sytem can have 32 programmed.

Thats what I was wondering, however where do you fit all those channels? They have like 25 channels on the smartnet system, its not a smartzone.

You don't "fit" them anywhere. You only program in the control channels (the ones in RED in the links you provided) and the radios are told what frequency to go to for voice by the controller. SmartNet can only have a maximum of 4 control channels, as was mentioned.
