Question about CP200

I am considering purchasing my own radio for work (work ones are not good quality). Fleet at work contains 2x GP300s, some SP50s, some SP50+s, CP200s, and CP200XLSs. Looking at buying CP200 (probably not new). I am not sure if the radios are on VHF or UHF, but I know they have wx radio (NOAA) on them, so I presume they would need to be VHFs. Is this correct?

Also, are there any variations within the CP200 VHF radios which could make a difference on which radio I should get? This is a seasonal job, and I will not unfortunately have access to any of the units until June, so I can't check any serials, model numbers, etc.

Any and all advice greatly appreciated.

I don't think this would be good time to make the investment considering the GP300's, SP50's and SP50+'s in use are not likely the narrowband variety. If not they're going to have to replace these to conform to the the narrowband standards before the end of the year. They will either need to modify their current license amd switch over to narrow compliant radios or re-apply which would land them on a different frequency. Yes, if they're receiving NOAA they're currently on VHF.

We bought a bunch of SP 50s in 1997, and they were narrowband. If I recall, the last two letters in the model number denote whether the radio is narrow or wideband. Don't remember what letters mean what, but I'm sure the information is out there.

The chart from Motorola that I have here says that the following model numbers are 12.5 compliant:

P93YQT00G2_A
P94YQT00G2_A
P94YQT00G3_A

These GP300's are listed as 12.5 compliant:

P94YPC00C3_A
P94YPC00C4_A

Thanks. I just heard this weekend that we are getting new radios so they must have been wideband. Guess I'll have to wait until I report to find out what the new radios entail as far as models, etc.

Thanks all for the help.
