Astro Saber Serial Number

I did a search on this and got some results, but no concrete answers...

I have a VHF Astro Saber II (Host 7/DSP 7) that is in an Astro Saber III case. This radio has a very basic conventional and P25 flashcode, and a DES-XL module.

I have a VHF Astro Saber III (Host 7/DSP 8) that I am programming for a friend. This radio has, among other things, multikey encryption in the flashcode.

What I would like to do is read the S-Rec from my friend's radio, and write it to mine so that I can gain the use of the keypad and the multikey encryption option since we have multiple keys in use locally. I am familiar with the process to do this, but once I write the new S-Rec to my radio, it will have an internal serial number matching my friend's radio.

Anyone have any ideas for how to correct the serial number issue so that I can retain my correct serial number? Feel free to PM...

Thanks!

I have gotten several generous offers to help with this project...

Unfortunately I have several computer issues working against me on this DOS computer that I am using, one of which being that I cannot get any files off of it. I do have a saved S-Rec from the donor radio, and can obviously read the S-rec from my target radio at any time.

Is there any way to edit the CPS codeplug after the swap is done to change the serial number to the correct one?

no such thing as can't get files off of a computer, pull that drive and plug it into another machine if you have to. especially if it has the files you need
