MCS2000 "OFF" Current Draw Figures?

Hi all,
I know there was a similar thread in the past, but it didn't have any numbers... I have a MIII MCS2000 in 900 MHz, and I am getting a current draw of 280mA when "off". Does this seem like a lot? Has anyone else actually measured the "off" current of their MCS?

It's interesting, because the ON current with no backlighting is 340mA... That's not a lot more! There's got to be something that's not shutting down? Or is this normal?

Thanks,
Max

I would think more in the 3-5mA range would be normal for an "OFF" radio. That's what MaxTracs, CDMs, and GTXs draw.

Sounds like something isn't turning off internally.

Yeah... I talked to a friend of mine, he said you often see current draw like that when the final output FET or module is going... I disconnected the final output module (it's a little brick-style amp) and it still is there, so maybe it's the driver, which is a M25C20 (discrete device instead of a brick). Removing it is a little bit trickier, so stay tuned :)

this was a problem with every single MCS 2k radio that i owned.

i once had a 110w uhf tray that drew damn near an AMP when off.

sent it to the depot (when it was in the USA) - "could not replicate problem"

whatever

i sold them all.... good riddance to that series...

Haha... wonderful... Other than their issues, I think it's a fairly nice series of radios. Oh well!
