My watt meter is out of service. Is there a way to have an idea what the repeater is putting out from the settings in the programming software? I know most of the number ranged from 19 to 26 but wasnt sure if certain number meant a certain power. I have it set to LOW power in the normal setting but just to be sure that it was not messed with before I got this. Im fine with it running 15 watts or even 20 at the most in fact I prefer this power setting. I have searched and havent really seen anything.

It is set up for ham currently and after about 20 minutes the back of the radio was too hot to touch which may be normal. There regular fans are in the spots they are supposed to be in but while trying things out I had the cover off.

Nope, not really. There is no defined correlation between the drive setting and the power out. You'll need to borrow a wattmeter.

Make sure your fan on the PA is running all the time. If you run the transmitter power too low the PA will overheat due to greatly decreased efficiency. On the R1225 chassis 45 watt version 25 watts is the lower limit.

We change out the PA (radio's power amplifier) fan to a better one with thermal control. Also a simple thermostat added to the PA heatsink to control the fan is easy and the thermostat is easily available

Some fans run only when the power supply gets hot, this is a wiring problem in some GR 1225 and even most GR300 repeaters.
