I picked up a M1225 the other day. I plan on using it for the link radio on UHF to a VHF repeater. I want to be able to tie into the local UHF repeaters if need be.
The only problem I am running into is I cant find out if there is a way to change though the 20 channels remotely as a user on the VHF repeater.
Is there a way to do this?
The only way I can think up is I would have to open up the radio and tap into the channel + & - button. Then use a DTMF command on the repeater controller to pulse up and down to the radio.

I doubt you will be able to command all 20 channels through the accy. port, and even if you use a tone remote, you might be able to access 4 to 8 at the most.
I have a pair of M1225s doing similar duty, but RX only.

You might look into DTMF control of at least 4 channels with a tone remote adaptor, like a 1548, but you will need to generate the usual 2150/1950 as well as whatever tones required to change channels.

If you're handy with microcontrollers, you could program one up to send SB9600 serial commands to the radio... Program one button as a home select, send the command for that button, followed by the "channel up" command for number of times it takes to get to the channel you want...
