MCS2000 TYPE I Problem

Hi,
I have MCS2000 Type I uhf radio 403-470MHz 30w M01RHL9PW4AN.
When radio is turned on and working, after couple of hours it halts. Lights on control head are turned off, but channel name is still displayed.
To bring radio back to operational state I have to disconnect it from power for 30-40 minutes.
Control head was replaced, but there is the same problem. DC power parts were checked and they are OK. Can it be caused by a "reset circuit" ?
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

No body has mentioned it yet, but by any chance are you having the leaky cap problem that the Spectra radios have?

What do you mean by "halts".. does the display backlight just go out or does the radio stop functioning completely?

Jim, there are SMT electrolytics on the MSF board, but they're not the type to leak.

Don't bet on that. These radios are of the same vintage.

Is it possible the radio is somehow programmed for auto power off? The MCS 2000 series does support this.
