Why no Astro Saber have name tag? Is it the only radio ? The original sabers say Saber, Systems Saber and pretty much every other moto portable has got a name, right?. Astro saber just says "Astro". I really admire this model 3 astro saber and I see it to be a one of a kind modern synthesized motorola oddball portable

Saber SI is a nice compact version although its analog type has a name and astro does not or does it? Hidden in the deep framework of motorola mid 90's engineering

I NEVER had a single SI that WORKED correclty, mostly because the radios were always good wrenched with people using MTSX LAB on them (yes, it would work) and not proper Saber SI RSS (which was garbage itself).

I always liked the two line display and classic Saber form factor, in my opinion, Motorola made this to ween fleets of Saber analog users to Smartnet 800 trunking and the SI was a way to keep all the batteries, chargers, cases etc in service. Then about the same time the Astro Saber series came out.

In one of the Astro brochures, it's copyrighted 1991 Motorola. Interesting, as the Saber SI brochures all say 1992, which is the same time frame as the Jedi series arrived.
