Anyone with a programming cable for the Federal Informer TAR that can tell me the pin-outs on both ends so I can build one? Should be a simple DB9 to RJ-25 cable... I hope. Thanks.

Cool, that gets him 1/2 way there.

Try this:

DB9---RJ---Color

1-----N/C
2-----N/C
3-----6-----ORG
4-----3-----YEL
5-----2-----GRN
6-----N/C
7-----1-----PUR
8-----5-----WHT
9-----N/C

The cable that I have has a molded DB9 on one end that I cannot open and a 6 pin RJ connector on the other end. I am rather surprised that pin 2 is not connected on the DB end.

Confirmed this pinout works! Thanks Dorf411.

No idea how data is read without pin2 Rx Data. Toggle the handshake? Weird.

The cable even worked on a Serial USB adapter, but much MUCH slower. Be very patient if you're stuck with a laptop w/o a physical COM port UART.
