Hi all,

I recently got a Astro Spectra, problem is i cant read it, when i got to read the radio I get the following.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK8w7fvY ... ature=plcp

Any ideas? Sadly the postage took so long the buyer wont take it back.
I am hoping that the radio just needs a new s-rec.

Thanks,
Luke

Difficult, if not impossible, to help unless you state the exact CPS you're trying to use and other relevant programming details. For instance (and not saying that you have done this) but a lot of people confuse Astro and Astro 25 CPS which leads to lots of problems.

I didn't watch the video but yes tell us the model # of the radio, what programming hardware your using (cable, rib, etc) and what software version your using.

If you are trying to use Astro software for programming the Asro Saber and the XTS300, you are using the wrong CPS, and even if you try the Astro 25 CPS, you may have a version that is too old to read the radio, as the previous owner might have used a later version, in that you would get a 'codeplug too new' error.

Video was poor and showed no useful information, HHCH was moved so much it blurred the LCD.
Only conclusion might be the CPS used was NOT intended for use in his Spectra. Aussie vesion instead of AA version.

I am using the latest Astro Spectra CPS R05.03.00. (Not the ASTRO 25 CPS)

Model D04QKH9PW3AN
Firmware 11.06.01.00
DSP N07.03.19
Flashcode 540008-000600-1

I am using the DB25 Cable to the front port with just a after market RIB.

I have also tried with Motorola RIBs, the front and back Accessory port programming cable and tried with a different laptop. I have tried everything made by Motorola that should work with the radio.

Thanks,

I saw a mid power radio in the video, you need to go to the back port on the mid power radios. I don't know why it would have not worked thru the rear acc port.

Whenever I read a radio I always turn the rib on first, then the radio. I know that in the video you tried to reboot the radio with the rib on and got a fail code but that was after things got "weird". Have you tried turning the rib on first, then radio on, and then attempting a read?

Thanks,

A straight through DB25 cable or a Spectra High Power Programming cable?

Its a High powered cable, provided by the seller. I am going to try and get another mid power programming cable to give it a try as I now believe that the one we tried was not for the radio, got to wait a few weeks for shipping though.

I have tried to start the radio with the RIB on, that's when I get Fail 01/90.

Thanks Guys,

A high programming cable should work just fine. I can't stress how important it is to use OEM equipment unless you built the cables, etc yourself and know 100 percent you did it right. The radio could have a problem but with the non oem stuff being used who knows and who knows what might have been done to the radio by using non OEM stuff.

In an OEM setup the rib is powered by the radio through the programming cable. You shouldn't even need to turn the rib box on. See if you can borrow OEM stuff from someone in your area.

Thanks Jason,

I tried an OEM RIB and Cables when I first got it, it was the same result. But I believe the rear port cable was busted.

Thanks guys!
