MTS2000 which software version?

Probably an elementary question...or two..To program an MTS2000 which software will work with DOS and which with XP? A version I have seen (when in the PC config section) has places to enter paths for Archive, etc..and there is a place for entering a path for the Syskey. Is this a part of the radio personality profile, or do I need to provide a Syskey? As a second hand radio I have no clue as to what the Syskey is..did I get a radio that's beyond me?

Is there a tutorial oprogramming the MTS2000 somewhere?

Thanks fellas!

You can use RSS version R6.07, which works fine with XP as well as Win98.
You can also decide to go with CPS, but once you jump to CPS, your copy of RSS will no longer work with your radio.

MTSX RSS will work with DOS, MTS2000 CPS will work with XP. As far as which one to go with it's probably down to a matter of preference. If you'd rather play around with DOS then use the RSS or if you prefer the windows experience go with CPS. There's a chance that the CPS might possibly support a few features that the RSS doesn't.

The system key is required for programing trunking systems in the radio and is not needed for your run of the mill conventional communications.

Not necessarily. For someone with no experience programing with Moto RSS/CPS it might present a bit of a learning experience. The help section can be particularly useful and I'm willing to lend some advice if needed.
