DIU Replacement

Working on a project for a customer. Was looking for a way to keep the Quantar radios they have, but repalce the DIU. Preferably by converting the V.24 serial interface to IP that I can then run over a private IP network.
Any ideas?
Thanks

You might find this discussion useful:
http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.p ... 4&p=415165 note my comment on the delay which results from the buffering inherent in serial to IP converters. Note also the last poster that recommended the now discontinued Vanguard 340 which was at one time badged by Motorola. RAD also do similar products.

That is a way to covnert comms between radio and DIU to IP. I am looking to replace DIU with a device that talks IP. That way we are not locked in to legacy DIU and can transport via IP.

What acutal reason was the DIU deployed. Are you talking in encrypted? Or just looking for something as simple as line level to IP conversion, which a JPS NXU 2A or Telex IP223 will do. I have seen numerous systems installled with DIUS and they never actually use them what they were meant for, and most likely never will?

If you’re looking at more than transport you'll have to be way more specific about what you want to do unless this is simply an analog network.
While you can eliminate a DIU in a digital network, its function has to be replaced by some other piece of Motorola infrastructure. The only exception is the limited back-to-back Quantar config.
