I have a UHF 40W CDM1550 which was manufactured in Nov 2005 and has firmware version 05.05.15.

The radio is an new old stock radio and has probably never been progged since early 2006.

Is it OK to use "newer" CPS R06.12.xx or should I use a version of CPS which is closer in date to the firmware date/manufacture date, such as R06.06.07 ??

Are there any versions of CPS which should be avoided because of bugs etc?

Thanks

That cps will work fine, it's the firmware in the radio that you might want to think about upgrading

Thanks HLA

Do you know if Motorola provides a firmware update "history" which lists what changes have been made in each successive firmware update.

Are there any major updates since 05.05.15 which provide enhanced basic conventional operation? I'm not sure if the CDM1550 has User MPL...but later versions of the MCS2000 firmware has User MPL which is a good reason to update the MCS2000 firmware!!!

yes, go to your mol account and download the new firmware and it will have a read me file with it's upgrades and fixes. the cdm's are not like mcs's, the cdm's you can download the firmware and update it yourself with a simple boot adaptor and the one upgrade tool will do an endless number of upgrades
