Firewall help on 2011 Explorer Eddie Bauer.

Last Explorer I needed to run power through the firewall was a 2004 XLT. Easy peasy. Now I'm trying to do the same on a 2011 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition, and it's a real headache. First, Ford placed some type of molded sound proofing material against the firewall face, not the old reclaimed carpet padding. Secondly, of the accessable passthroughs, none seem to be as useable as previous models had. Anyone with any experience with this?
