APX7000XE Model 3.5?

I just got a couple of APX7000XE model 3 radios from Moto. (They are configured identically to APX7000R model 3s that I already had).

But I noticed something odd: the FM label claims that the radio is an APX7000XE Model 3.5. Huh? I've never seen the "Model 3.5" nomenclature before.

Also, another odd thing: the flashcodes on the XEs seem to no longer be strictly numeric (and so presumably no longer represent a bitmap). My new XEs have flashcodes of 1828P0-211302-6. They came with two new features, QA01768 (enhanced zone bank) and QA01833 (extreme noise reduction profile), though these weren't explicitly ordered.

3.5= top display radio as well.

None of the APX radios are limited to numerical flashcodes.

Ah, I didn't know that 3.5 nomenclature; thanks.

So if flashcodes are no expressed as a string of 4bit hex bitmaps, how does one decode them now?

Yes, I'm aware that there's software to decode flashcodes. What I'm asking is *how* such software converts alphabetic codes into bitmaped options.

I suspect you will need to ask Peter, on that website how he wrote the decoder and encoder options, and I am sure, if you have enough patience, he can tell you how it does what it does, if he wants to.
