Is there some reason that your set on using the 1066 head? You can take just about any of that type head and program one of the buttons for zone up and another for zone down.

I have a number of different model heads working on the Spectra radio. They all have been set up for zone operation. I tend to use the number 1 key for zone up and the number 4 key for zone down. But you could use any of the buttons above the display to do the same thing.

I could do what you did but I liked the dedicated rocker switch for zones. So if a 1066 can be had cheap then I would go for it. Otherwise I'll use the extra buttons on a plain A9 head.
