How do-able is it to add Multi-key & ADP Software encryption to a couple XTS2500s, and what would that run me - ballpark?

Thanks!

A few hundred bucks per. Its above price book, so you need to see your local Motorola shop.

The actual cost for the flash upgrade is $75 per radio, plus local tax. From asking the question I can only assume you've never done this kind of thing before.
If you need to get a shop involved, then you'll need to pay their labor time in addition. BTW, it only takes less than 10 minutes top to apply this to a radio, so you may want find out in advance if what their minimum labor rate is.

In any case, you will need the model #, Serial number, current real flash code, and then a MR or Motorola sales force can place the order for this.

I did a batch of them, and the flash from M was $75 per radio. That is software ADP, hardware ADP will cost a lot more, and require a KVL to load keys.

It's an hour bench time most places, and no one mentioned the cost of MULTIKEY, which is an additional flash code.

Someone got APB handy?

Of course, the question is, does the radio already have a UCM?

Regardless, to ORDER the upgrade, you will need the serial number of each radio, the current firmware in the radio (all of it), and the current flash code. Of course you will need the full model number too.

If you don't have access to the software, you will NEED to bring the radio to the shop so they can read the necessary information (not ALL of it is displayed during the POST test).

SW ADP will allow multipul keys to be loaded and accessed with the $75 flash.

2500's have the crypto installed in the front keyboard of the radio, not a cheap path to go down if you need to add the hardware

And of course, $75 is dealer COST, right?

So, time to read the radio, someone has to fill out an order request, start a billing ticket, call or email the Motorola rep, order the flash, receive the dongle and software, check it in, give it to a technician, the technician writes the radio (assuming NOTHING goes wrong in the process), the technician completes the work ticket, front office staff bills it, accounting approves it (or someone), the customer gets his radio back.

You can do this cheap? Most shops would mark up the cost of the flash, AND charge labor.

Try ordering software AND hardware encryption for a radio....

I'm an end user, gov't entity, that was what we paid for the flash, we did the labor ourselves, if you have a ribless cable(factory) you can buy the flash and flash it yourself.

You can, but it is pointless, as you can only use one or the other, not both. Saying that, if the OP needs DES-XL AND ADP, he will need hardware, if he just needs ADP, he can use the software version and be fine.
