Hi guys,

Just rcvd a XPR 7550, Question I have is how is the volume compared to the XPR 6550, Is it louder? When turning the volume knob on my 6550, I notice at half its pretty loud and gets louder.. On my XPR 7550 when at half its not as loud as the 6550, it gets pretty loud thow towards the last bar or close to the end of turn.. Can anyone let me know..

A few friends recently got 7550's, & seem to work just like your's. GARY

Working as designed. The 6550 does not have a linear audio level, the first 1/2 a turn gets you about 3/4 max audio output, the last 1/2 a turn gets you the remaining 1/4 output. The 7550 works linearly throughout the entire rotation of the volume control. Why Motorola did this on the 6550 I'm not really sure, but it is what it is

Very interesting, When i got the unit i was like why is this lower until I'm close to the end of the volume turning... Its def a nice radio and the screen reminds me of windows LOL...

I hear the APX7000 is pretty much the same...

I have noticed that the digital audio as compared to the analog audio is much lower on the 7550. Listening to the digital channels at a level I can hear them (just about 100% volume) results in me getting blasted out of the car when an analog channel comes up.

In the Turbo Tuner you will find on the RX settings that you can adjust the RX audio simple adjustment brought the RX audio up and very satisfying now...The tuner is a separate program and is NOT in the code plug..

What did you bring yours up to. ??

You can test it, i brought mine up to 210-220 you can go more 255 max tested it at several settings see what suits you.. now audio acceptable instead of having to bring it to almost 100% to hear stations..I'm at 1/4 to half and much louder also using the pmmn4046a speaker mic much improvement from the internal speaker...

I have a question about DTMF tone audio level but a search didn't find anything on that topic. Since this thread is about audio, I thought I'd see if someone here has an answer.

DTMF tones on my 7550 are too loud relative to the volume of a received signal. If I have the volume at a comfortable listening level and send a DTMF string to my analog repeater, the tones coming out of the 7550 speaker are way too loud.

I didn't see an adjustment for this in Tuner and was wondering if adjustment is even possible.
