HT1250 Emergency & Revert Issue

We are making some programming changes to our radios and have ran into an issue with HT1250 portables. The radio will not allow emergency to be enabled unless every channel has MDC signaling or there is a dedicated emergency revert channel. We cannot use a revert channel as we have multiple PL steered repeaters and emergency must also work on a simplex channel. Our work-around for this in the past was to have a second MDC system with PTT ID & DOS disabled for the non-signaling channels. However, we now will have a couple of RX only channels and the software doesn't like this at all. You can save the codeplug but it won't allow you to program the radio. Our old MT2000 portables didn't have this issue. You could program without having MDC signaling enabled on every channel. I realize the reasoning behind this is so emergency will work no matter what channel the user is on but for us it is a problem.

so what's wrong with adding the identifier to all channels?

The second MDC system with PTT & DOS disabled works for the non-signaling channels but we can't program receive only channels without having an emergency revert.

so alter the rx only channels to allow transmit? let them tx on your main channel so if you still have to use the man down button it will still be able to do it's job. What band are you using? what's it's firmware? I just altered my 1250 and 1550 to do what you state and made the weather channed rx only and both are still letting me write to the radio with no problems?
